**The Miss Twin Cities Scholarship Organization is an "OPEN" Pageant....You must live, work or go to school in the State of Minnesota to participate.  Proof of residence and/or college enrollment will be required**

 AREAS OF COMPETITION
 
To be eligible to compete in a Miss America local competition, you must:

*Be between the ages of 17 and 24 (17 on the day of the competition in the local pageant, and not older than 24 on December 31, 2010, to compete in Miss America 2010)

*Be 17  years of age and a high school graduate  to compete in the state competition

*Be a United States citizen

*Meet residency requirements for competing in a certain town & state; be ready to show proof of residency and also college enrollment 

*Complete and sign the contract (available from Miss Twin Cities Director)

*Complete the Resume and Platform statement according to the instructions as set forth by the Miss America Organization

*Be in good health to meet the job requirements

*Be able to meet the time commitment & job responsibilities as set forth by the local program in which you compete.

Becoming a Miss Minnesota Contestant
To compete in the Miss Minnesota Pageant, you must first become a local pageant titleholder.

What are the Competitions?
All local pageants in the Miss America Organization have the same competitions and scoring system. The competitions consist of Interview, Talent, Evening Gown, On-Stage Question, Swimwear, and Casual Wear.

Am I Eligible to Compete in a Pageant?
To be eligable to become a contestant you must meet the following preliminary requirements:

*Be between the ages of 17 and 24
*Be a United States citizen
*Meet residency requirements for the local preliminary you are interested in competing in
*Meet character criteria as set forth by the 
Miss America Organization
*Be in reasonably good health to meet the job requirements
*Be able to meet the time commitment and job responsibilities as set forth by the local program in which you compete

Can I Compete in Any Pageant?
Some local pageants are 'Closed' and some are 'Open.'
Closed pageants generally limit their contestants to a specific geographic area, while Open pageants generally accept contestants from all over Minnesota. To find out if you are eligible to compete in a specific local pageant, please contact that local pageant.

Who is Miss Minnesota?
The Miss Minnesota/ Miss America Judging system is unique in its ability to select individuals who represent the best of America's women; women who can be role models for other women. Miss Minnesota is a woman who has the qualities it takes to be successful in whatever endeavor she pursues. Each Miss Minnesota is unique, and is a vibrant, concerned woman, accepting the challenges for today and possessing even more exciting dreams for tomorrow.

Miss Minnesota Must be:
*A woman of the 21st century, concerned with her platform, her community, her state, and her education
*A Role Model who cares about her role and other
women's roles in society
*An Ambassador and Public Relations Representative of the
Miss Minnesota Scholarship Program
*A poised woman with a confidant and commanding presence Both talented and intelligent
*An activist on issues she deems important
*An independent and eloquent communicator with the courage of her convictions
*An accomplished individual whose diversity represents a composite of the "Best of Modern Women"
*A leader by virtue of her experiences
One who takes personal pride in her physical fitness and health
*A woman who is actively networking in her community and throughout the state to develop her platform, form alliances, and create appearance opportunities for herself and the
