Kathy
has been involved with the Miss America Program for over 25 years in
the local, state and national levels doing the following:
· Co-chaired first ever Miss Byron pageant which produced Miss Minnesota 1979 Debby Nerby.
· Founder and current co-chairman of the Miss Twin Cities Scholarship Program which produced Miss
Minnesota 1983 Vicki Plaster; Miss Minnesota 1984 and 3rd
runner-up/talent preliminary winner to Miss America 1985, Lauren Green;
Miss Minnesota 2008, Angela McDermott, Miss Minnesota 2009, Brooke Kelly
Kilgarriff and most recently Kathryn Knuttila - Miss Minnesota 2010. · Chairman of Miss Minnesota’s Atlantic City Preparation Committee from 1988 (Gretchen Carlson - Miss America 1989) through 1995 (Eileen Van Driest’s year).
· Traveling Companion with Miss Minnesota to the Miss America Pageant in 1991 1992, 1993, 1994 & 1995; also traveled with Miss Minnesota around the state on many occasions from 1978 though 1995.
· Judged numerous local pageants; judged state pageants for North Dakota and Georgia (Miss Georgia Kara Martin became the first runner-up to Miss America 1994); and judged Queen of Snows Pageants.
· Traveled statewide holding clinics for local pageants on contestant preparation for Miss Minnesota; also held
clinics for St. Paul Winter Carnival on contestant preparation for
Queen of Snows; served on numerous committees (judges clinics &
preparation) during Girl Talk (Work Shop Weekend) and Miss Minnesota Pageant week
· MC'd many local pageants and fashion shows ·
Married to Don, mother of 4 daughters (Heather, Heidi, Colleen &
Cori). Cori was Miss Coon Rapids 2007, and 4th runner up to Miss
Minnesota 2007.
· Has 7 wonderful grandchildren!

Meet Crystal Kelley
Director of Platform Development and Paperwork

Crystal Kelley has been a writer and editor for more than 20
years. She is the owner of Grammatically
Correct, a company devoted to ensuring all written communications by pageant
contestants and titleholders are the best they can be.
She works from her home in Eden Prairie as a columnist for Examiner.com
and is the author of two blogs. She has served
as a volunteer in the Eden
Prairie School District
and was the recipient of the President’s Award for Excellence with the
volunteer organization Eden Prairie Women of Today.
She is Director of Platform Development and
Paperwork for the Miss Twin Cities Scholarship program. She is a classically
trained pianist, a former pageant mom, a regular mom and grandmother as well. Crystal lives in Eden Prairie with her husband (of 23 years!) Tom, daughter Amber (22) and son Christian (18). She has a 2 year old granddaughter, Bianca.
Crystal's daughter, Amber Kelley, was Miss Mankato 2006 and was a semi-finalist in the 2006 Miss Minnesota Pageant.
