Kaylah
Dockter was crowned Miss Capital City 2010 on
Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the Paul & Sheila Wellstone Center
for Community Building in the capital city of St. Paul! She became
the 2nd young woman to carry the title of
Miss Capital
City. For the talent
portion of the competition, Kaylah performed a vocal selection
"O Mio Babbino Caro” by Giacomo Puccini. Kaylah was the overall talent winner for the evening.
Kaylah
will spend her year as Miss Capital City promoting her platform "Easing the Teasing: You are Valuable."
As a performer, Kaylah has
learned many valuable lessons, how to
present a positive image, how to convey a particular message, and how to
interact with people, to mention a few, but they are the most
important qualities that she can bring to the Miss Capital City Organization.
Some
interesting facts about Kaylah is that she is an avid Minnesota Twins baseball
fan (and would LOVE to meet Joe Mauer), was a gymnast for ten years of her
life, and parasailing is her most favorite thing to do while on vacation! Her pet peeve is “someone reading over my
shoulder while I am reading a book or magazine.”
Kaylah
grew up in Apple Valley, Minnesota, where she was a graduate of Eastview High
School in Apple Valley, MN. She is the daughter
of Kenneth and Rynelle Dockter. Kaylah also has a brother Jordan (22), and two sisters - Courtney (17) and Jenna (16). She also has a Golden Retriever named Maggie who is 9 years old, and is basically another sibling!!
Kaylah
is a junior at the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities campus) where she is
working toward a Bachelor of Music, Vocal Performance Degree. She hopes to obtain a Master’s Degree in
Vocal Performance, and become a successful opera singer.
